My skin tone has a slight olive tint to it, but I've no idea what concealer will suit my skin tone best... Any ideas on how to find this out?How can you tell what concealer will suit your skin tone?
If you ask a member of staff when you go into a shop, they will help you find the exact colour for your skintone, as if you find one yourself, i find you usually get one thats to pale or too orange x
Good luck [;How can you tell what concealer will suit your skin tone?
Blend a little on your face and see if it can be spotted in natural lighting, if it look natural then it is your colour. Also rememebr that if you want to cover spots on you face you need a yellow based concealer because yellow cancles red. But if you want to cover under your eyes you need a salmon colour based concealer becasue pink cancles blue.
If you go to a cosmetics store, hold up the concealers to your face and see what matches best. I suggest going to Sephora because they have a wide variety. You might not want to buy it there though because it is expensive! Once you know what concealer is you, then go to some cosmetics stores and weigh prices.
look at your undertones. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art3鈥?/a>
That will help you find them out. MAC colours are NW and NC Meaning Neutral Cool and neutral warm. NW would be a pinky peachy colour and NC Would be more of a yellowy blueish colour. You would probably be NC. Go there and they will match you up. If you don't want to buy from there, get matched and find a similar colour elsewhere.

well rub it on a small section of your hand and then blend it ... if it blend in then put a tiny dot somewhere on like your chin and then if that blends well you are good to go =)
If it matches the color of your neck, it will suit your face.

Can I exchange a MAC concealer for a different one at a different location?
I bought the MAC select moisturecover concealer and I don't like it, I want to exchange it for the MAC studio finish concealer. But the store where I bought the concealer is VERY far and I need to exchange it at my mall. Am I allowed to exchange it at a different location? Can I exchange a MAC concealer for a different one at a different location?
Yes, you are allowed to return it another MAC location--It does not matter what department store/MAC retail store is. If it is Macy's then they won't take the return unless if it is only from Macy's.
Good Luck!!

What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?
I don't get which is which and what they're each used for. Someone please explain? What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?
foundation you used it to cover all your face
concealer you only used where you have dark spot
scar , pimples , etc. What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?
Concealor essentially covers any dark spots, pimples, dark circles %26amp; other small blemishes visible on your face %26amp; evens out your skin tone. It 'conceals' irregularities. It is most often used under the eyes, to conceal dark circles. It is first applied on the dark areas, %26amp; then foundation is applied all over the face to even it out.
Concealers usually do a good job of hiding blemishes by blending the imprefection into the surrounding skin tone.
Foundation is a flesh-toned cosmetic applied the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion %26amp; sometimes, to change the natural skintone.
makeup - it's a broad category and everything falls under it, such as mascara, eyeliner, foundation, powder, concealer, etc
concealer - it is either used for a) to cover up pimples, zits and freckles or b) to cover up bags/dark circles under the eyes.
foundation - its usually liquid and it's what you apply to your face before you put on powder (or you don't even have to wear the powder at all). it's applied onto the face either with a brush or a sponge (sponge being the most common) and some ppl just apply it onto their face with their fingers. it's supposed to even out the skin tone and cover up small pimples and flaws on your skin.
as for the brands, it depends how much you're willing to pay. on the inexpensive side are drugstore brands that you can find at Target or anywhere else. i think CoverGirl is the best drugstore brand (Maybelline tends to get a bit flakey). on the more expensive side is Clinique and MAC. if you're going to buy foundation, then i assume you're going to buy powder too to put on top. although its more expensive at Clinique or MAC, the quality is way better and it lasts a long time - more than a year. Clinique is $19 and MAC is $26 for foundation. i like Clinique way better because its supposed to be better for your skin than other brands and gives you a natural, fresh look when you put it on. MAC on the other hand makes some ppl break out and gives you a 'heavy' look where its obvious you're wearing makeup. but as for concealer, i recommend MAC because it's only $15 and it works really good. drugstore brands on the other hand don't work as good.
hope that helps =)
Foundation is well the foundation of all the makeup you put on. You put it on first to even out your skin tone and to have a nice foundation to put on the rest of your makeup. Like blush.
Concealer is used to cover dark circles or pimples, zits, and scars. You just put a little on the places that need it and it conceals it. It will never fully cover but it makes it not as noticeable.
You should always remember to set both of these things before you put on the rest of your makeup. Just use a translucent powder over your face. It keeps the foundation and concealer from moving around and creasing.
Edit:
Types of foundation and concealer:
Foundation: Maybelline Pure Makeup. I wasn't expecting much from this since I got it on clearance for like $2 but it ended up surprising me. It's good for people with acne prone skin and people who only need a light coverage. It's also very good for people with a little bit of a pink undertone.
I would also recommend anything with minerals. You can't really go wrong with minerals since they wont harm your skin but some work better than others.
Concealer: Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfecter. It has both a concealer and a highlighter. It's amazing for a drug store brand.
If you have under eye circles; like myself, for them I would advise using a yellow concealer. When you have to do that I would advise dabbing a bit of foundation over it to blend it better. Maybelline Coverstrick in yellow.
Foundation is what you put all over your face before you put the rest of your make up on (i.e. bronzer, concealer, blush, etc.)...hence foundation
Concealer conceals the imperfections, you put this under your eyes and on small marks or pimples to cover them up
Concealer is a little more concentrated and is used for small spots ie; pimple, under eye circles
Foundation is used to even out the skin tone like larger areas or the whole face.
foundation is to make your whole face like one shade and prepares it for other makeup and concealer is for little blemishes
concealer is thicker and covers imperfections. Makeup or Foundation goes over entire face.Ltd

What's the difference between concealer, foundation and powder?
I know it's a pathetic question, and at 20 I should already know, but I never really wore makeup, and now I'm really starting to get into it. So what's the difference between the 3/what is each used for? And what are some great make-up tricks/tips that you use?
*Remember, the you receive the best answer for the most detail, and not just one sentence answers. Thanks for your help everyone! What's the difference between concealer, foundation and powder?
A concealer or colour corrector is a type of makeup used to mask pimples, dark circles and other small blemishes visible on the skin. Concealers usually do a good job of hiding blemishes by blending the imprefection into the surrounding skin tone. This product is mainly used by women, but use among men is increasing.
Both concealer and foundation are typically used to make skin appear more uniform in color. These two types of cosmetics differ in that concealers tend to be more heavily pigmented. Also, foundation is usually applied to larger areas than concealer is.
Foundation is a flesh-toned cosmetic applied the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, and, sometimes, to change the natural skintone.
Face powder is a cosmetic powder applied to the face to set foundation after application. It can also be reapplied throughout the day to minimize shininess caused by oily skin. There is translucent sheer powder, and there is pigmented powder. Certain types of pigmented facial powders are meant be worn alone with no base foundation. Powder tones the face and gives an even appearance. Besides toning the face, some SPF based powders can also reduce skin damage from the sun and environmental stress. It comes packaged either as a compact or as loose powder. It can be applied with a sponge, brush, or powder puff. Uniform distribution over the face is achieved easier when a loose powder is applied.
hope that helps u out someWhat's the difference between concealer, foundation and powder?
Foundation is a base for makeup that also can even out the skin tone. There are different types of foundation like powder, liquid, and cream. It depends on your skin type to determine what type of foundation to use because some types are better for your skin than others. Foundation is used all over the face.
When using liquid, use a sponge and not your hands. Use a large brush for power, and spread it in the direction of your hair on your face (Hair is everywhere on your body. Some places less noticeable than others).
Concealer is a type of foundation, except thicker. It's not normally used all over the face, but in certain areas to cover blemishes, pimples, dark circles under eyes, etc. You can apply concealer with your fingers. Use the finger next to your pinky, because it is a finger most people don't really use, so its very gentle.
Hope this helps!

I'm 18, but i've learned from bare escentuals -- and constantly trying to make the right foundation color for my skin..
concealer is used in small areas, usually where you have pimples, blemishes, dark eye circles (it usually doesnt cover all of it, but it makes it blend more) jaw lines (MY FAVORITE TO COVER UP!) and etcc.
foundation is used to blend the concealer with your skin tone, a little goes a long way. if you use too much, its gonna look like its caked on. the trick is to constantly blend upwards, from your jaw up to your forehead %26amp; in circles.
powder is to help your skin from looking shiny / oily and as touchups during the day.
my favorite make-up is bare minerals by bare escentuals. the starter kit works great, and if you go to a place that sells it, the person can match up the perfect foundation to your skin tone. it works really well, i haven't had any complaints yet. but just don't be cheap about it, and buy their brushes along with their foundation/ concealer (its in one to save money!) i dont know about their other products -- which seem like every regular drug store item, but the foundation/concealer and mineral veil works great!
:) hope this helped!
