What is the difference between concealer and foundation?

What is a great brand of both?

Which is better, powder or liquid?

Thanks for your guys advice! What is the difference between concealer and foundation?
Concealer covers blemishes and spots

Foundation covers your whole faceWhat is the difference between concealer and foundation?
...I'm sure the other answer-ers already got you the right info, but I'll throw in my two cents:

-concelar is thicker and covers more heavily than foundation. concelar is used to ';spot'; cover blemishes and other small areas....foundation is used, generally all over your face to give a smooth clean and even apperance to the skin.

-i totally LOVE Clinque's conceler...the. best. once you put it on, you forget what you where even trying to cover up, because it just vanishes! (...i don't wear foundation, just concelar and powder, so i can't give you a good brand there, sorry.)

-i'd say powder is better, b/c it goes on so much lighter , and you have less of a chance of a ';makeup line'; on your chin and neck!!!

Concealer is there to concealer blemishes, zits, dark spots, while foundation is there to give your skin an all over even coverage. I use NYC colour concealer and CovergirlAquaSmooth foundation.
concealers come in a small tube and are liquid-form. they are only good for small spots, covering zits or maybe a small scar. they offer minimal coverage, so even after you apply it to the small areas, you may not get the coverage you desire. foundation comes in both powder and liquid. unlike the concealer, this offers you the most coverage because you can use it for your entire face. many of the cosmetic companies offer foundation in a powder form, although it's really more of a liquid powder (if that makes any sense). So, rather than using a brush, you would still use a makeup sponge. the liquid powder gives you that option to apply the foundation by dabbing onto the darker spots but at the same time, smooth enough to let you make the foundation even. i personally use estee lauder. it's fantastic. covergirl also makes something similar if you are on a budget.
A CONCEALER DOES WHAT ITS NAMED FOR..IT CONCEALS..BLEMISHES..DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES ETC....A FOUNDATION GOES OVER THE CONCEALER USUALLY AND IS USED TO MAKE THE FACIAL FEATURES LOOK SMOOTHER..EVEN SKIN TONE ETC....AS FAR AS LIQUID OR POWDER??THATS YOUR CHOICE..WHATEVER YOU LIKE...PLAY WITH SOME OF EACH AND DIFFERANT BRANDS TO SEE WHAT YOUR PREFERANCES ARE...HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!!
Concealer is more on the darker side then your face really is, because it's really HIDING things you don't want to be shown... (Acne, scars, etc...)

Foundation pretty much does the same thing, but, you got to make it your face color the closest possible because then you're going to have a mask...

What you do is put your concealer, on a pimple lets say, and then you put the foundation over that to hide the concealour darkness that is hiding your pimple. So it all blends together for one shade on your face and it doesn't look bad
Concealer has full coverage and covers all blemishes almost completely. Foundation has a medium coverage and covers more than powder.
CONCEALER is a base to cover dark areas (around the eyes or discoloration) its generally a different base color like a crazy green, purple or pale tone.

FOUNDATION is then all over cover that gives you a more even flawless tone.

Powder or Liquid? I prefer to apply powder using a brush. I live in Florida the liquid seems to be heavier and sometime creates a shine. You can always find help at the cosmetics counter. They will help you match everything and make you look flawless. You will find a brand that works for you. I like MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix. Its a powder and foundation combined. If you have sensitive skin Clinique is great also.

MAC also has great lip glosses that last all day.

Good Luck in your search to become even more beautiful!
Foundation is used on the whole of your face whereas concealer is just for certain areas such as blemishes.

I prefer MAC
concealer is a bit thick for coverup of redness or acne..

and dark circles...

while foundation is a tone of color to make skin look smooth

and clean...
