Can you use a lighter shade of foundation to cover up blemishes and dark circles the same way a concealer does? Or do they work differently? What is the difference between concealer and a lighter shade of foundation?
Concealer is far more heavily pigmented (=concentration of coloured particles in the fluid) than foundation - meaning its like sun block in comparison to sun lotion. Concealer tends to be far harder to work into the skin than foundation which is more fluid and creamy and so concealer is only really suitable for small areas of the face at a time or your face would appear very blotchy and thick with make up. The kind of concealers you are talking about which appear to be ';lighter'; under the eyes are concealers such as Touche Eclat which are full of light reflecting pigments (or little tiny specks of sheeny glittery stuff to me and you) which when photographed with flash reflect the light back and make the under eye area appear lighter than the rest of the face, which is actually just a negative side affect of these types of concealers (even when the concealer is in actual fact the same colour as their foundation it will always appear paler), so a paler foundation will not work in the same way as it is simply a lighter shade but does not contain these special light reflecting particles (or it may contain some but not as concentrated). What is the difference between concealer and a lighter shade of foundation?
I don't recommend. Concealer is thicker, which is great for dark circles. Invest in a good eye gel to prep your skin before hand. As for covering up blemishes, your actually clogging your pores even more if you add foundation on top of foundation on the infected area. I would purchase Murad Acne Treatment Concealer. It has great coverage and really drys out the blemish. Just be careful when applying because you don't want to go crazy and put it all over.. just on the blemish!
concealer has more coverage- foundation has less- u would wear concealer in addition to foundation to cover problematic areas tht may have pimples, scars, discoloration, etc. u can wear concealer on its own if u have already decent skin, and set it with powder, or foundation on its own, if u dont have much to cover. foundation provides a good base fro your makeup- if u like to wear blush, etc- tht is its purpose- the purpose of concealer is to cover imperfections- so they are different
hope this helps%26lt;3
You can try it! If it's a really good foundation that lasts long, it may work. Sometimes I wet my concealer brush and dip it in my mineral foundation to cover small, barely noticeable spots. But for things like dark circles or red blemishes i use my mineral concealer.
It IS different than the foundation. EXTREMELY adhesive, like you can't just rub it off after you apply it. I use a yellowish one for under eyes, and a greenish one for blemishes.

if u use a lighter shade as a concealer it will brighten the area around ur eyes. a concealer is not lighter its ur skin color in a thick formula to help cover up. thats why a concealer is not for all over the face. so no it does not help and does show up in pics! there is a fine line between them hope this helps!
Concealer is usually thicker :)
You can use foundation to cover up blemishes and dark circles, too... Eve Pearl does :) you'll have to look for a foundation that is just as thick as a concealer, though... so a concealer is the simplest choice ;)
Concealer is thicker and is designed for hiding things and foundation is to even skin tone. If the concealer you are using now isn't working try a new one get one that matches your skin tone as close as possible.
concealer is made with a yellow shade (yellow cancels out red)...red is the color of blemishes or scars. Foundation is made to even out skin tone. So no, even a lighter shade will not do the same job as a concealor. Good luck!
Concealer is a thinker consistency than foundation, so that it can cover things like spots or under eye circles easily. Foundation is less thick than concealer, because it is only meant to even out the skin tone.
You can use a lighter shade of make up. I have done that.Usually it's a bit thicker. But a lighter shade will cover redness %26amp; some imperfections.
concealer is thicker and provides more coverage than a foundation.
I recommend Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation and concealer
Concealer helps with troubled spots, and foundation evens out skin tone
