What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?

I don't get which is which and what they're each used for. Someone please explain? What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?
foundation you used it to cover all your face

concealer you only used where you have dark spot

scar , pimples , etc. What's the difference between concealer, foundation, ';makeup';?
Concealor essentially covers any dark spots, pimples, dark circles %26amp; other small blemishes visible on your face %26amp; evens out your skin tone. It 'conceals' irregularities. It is most often used under the eyes, to conceal dark circles. It is first applied on the dark areas, %26amp; then foundation is applied all over the face to even it out.

Concealers usually do a good job of hiding blemishes by blending the imprefection into the surrounding skin tone.

Foundation is a flesh-toned cosmetic applied the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion %26amp; sometimes, to change the natural skintone.
makeup - it's a broad category and everything falls under it, such as mascara, eyeliner, foundation, powder, concealer, etc

concealer - it is either used for a) to cover up pimples, zits and freckles or b) to cover up bags/dark circles under the eyes.

foundation - its usually liquid and it's what you apply to your face before you put on powder (or you don't even have to wear the powder at all). it's applied onto the face either with a brush or a sponge (sponge being the most common) and some ppl just apply it onto their face with their fingers. it's supposed to even out the skin tone and cover up small pimples and flaws on your skin.

as for the brands, it depends how much you're willing to pay. on the inexpensive side are drugstore brands that you can find at Target or anywhere else. i think CoverGirl is the best drugstore brand (Maybelline tends to get a bit flakey). on the more expensive side is Clinique and MAC. if you're going to buy foundation, then i assume you're going to buy powder too to put on top. although its more expensive at Clinique or MAC, the quality is way better and it lasts a long time - more than a year. Clinique is $19 and MAC is $26 for foundation. i like Clinique way better because its supposed to be better for your skin than other brands and gives you a natural, fresh look when you put it on. MAC on the other hand makes some ppl break out and gives you a 'heavy' look where its obvious you're wearing makeup. but as for concealer, i recommend MAC because it's only $15 and it works really good. drugstore brands on the other hand don't work as good.

hope that helps =)
Foundation is well the foundation of all the makeup you put on. You put it on first to even out your skin tone and to have a nice foundation to put on the rest of your makeup. Like blush.

Concealer is used to cover dark circles or pimples, zits, and scars. You just put a little on the places that need it and it conceals it. It will never fully cover but it makes it not as noticeable.

You should always remember to set both of these things before you put on the rest of your makeup. Just use a translucent powder over your face. It keeps the foundation and concealer from moving around and creasing.

Edit:

Types of foundation and concealer:

Foundation: Maybelline Pure Makeup. I wasn't expecting much from this since I got it on clearance for like $2 but it ended up surprising me. It's good for people with acne prone skin and people who only need a light coverage. It's also very good for people with a little bit of a pink undertone.

I would also recommend anything with minerals. You can't really go wrong with minerals since they wont harm your skin but some work better than others.

Concealer: Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfecter. It has both a concealer and a highlighter. It's amazing for a drug store brand.

If you have under eye circles; like myself, for them I would advise using a yellow concealer. When you have to do that I would advise dabbing a bit of foundation over it to blend it better. Maybelline Coverstrick in yellow.
Foundation is what you put all over your face before you put the rest of your make up on (i.e. bronzer, concealer, blush, etc.)...hence foundation

Concealer conceals the imperfections, you put this under your eyes and on small marks or pimples to cover them up
Concealer is a little more concentrated and is used for small spots ie; pimple, under eye circles

Foundation is used to even out the skin tone like larger areas or the whole face.
foundation is to make your whole face like one shade and prepares it for other makeup and concealer is for little blemishes
concealer is thicker and covers imperfections. Makeup or Foundation goes over entire face.
