I know it's a pathetic question, and at 20 I should already know, but I never really wore makeup, and now I'm really starting to get into it. So what's the difference between the 3/what is each used for? And what are some great make-up tricks/tips that you use?
*Remember, the you receive the best answer for the most detail, and not just one sentence answers. Thanks for your help everyone! What's the difference between concealer, foundation and powder?
A concealer or colour corrector is a type of makeup used to mask pimples, dark circles and other small blemishes visible on the skin. Concealers usually do a good job of hiding blemishes by blending the imprefection into the surrounding skin tone. This product is mainly used by women, but use among men is increasing.
Both concealer and foundation are typically used to make skin appear more uniform in color. These two types of cosmetics differ in that concealers tend to be more heavily pigmented. Also, foundation is usually applied to larger areas than concealer is.
Foundation is a flesh-toned cosmetic applied the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, and, sometimes, to change the natural skintone.
Face powder is a cosmetic powder applied to the face to set foundation after application. It can also be reapplied throughout the day to minimize shininess caused by oily skin. There is translucent sheer powder, and there is pigmented powder. Certain types of pigmented facial powders are meant be worn alone with no base foundation. Powder tones the face and gives an even appearance. Besides toning the face, some SPF based powders can also reduce skin damage from the sun and environmental stress. It comes packaged either as a compact or as loose powder. It can be applied with a sponge, brush, or powder puff. Uniform distribution over the face is achieved easier when a loose powder is applied.
hope that helps u out someWhat's the difference between concealer, foundation and powder?
Foundation is a base for makeup that also can even out the skin tone. There are different types of foundation like powder, liquid, and cream. It depends on your skin type to determine what type of foundation to use because some types are better for your skin than others. Foundation is used all over the face.
When using liquid, use a sponge and not your hands. Use a large brush for power, and spread it in the direction of your hair on your face (Hair is everywhere on your body. Some places less noticeable than others).
Concealer is a type of foundation, except thicker. It's not normally used all over the face, but in certain areas to cover blemishes, pimples, dark circles under eyes, etc. You can apply concealer with your fingers. Use the finger next to your pinky, because it is a finger most people don't really use, so its very gentle.
Hope this helps!

I'm 18, but i've learned from bare escentuals -- and constantly trying to make the right foundation color for my skin..
concealer is used in small areas, usually where you have pimples, blemishes, dark eye circles (it usually doesnt cover all of it, but it makes it blend more) jaw lines (MY FAVORITE TO COVER UP!) and etcc.
foundation is used to blend the concealer with your skin tone, a little goes a long way. if you use too much, its gonna look like its caked on. the trick is to constantly blend upwards, from your jaw up to your forehead %26amp; in circles.
powder is to help your skin from looking shiny / oily and as touchups during the day.
my favorite make-up is bare minerals by bare escentuals. the starter kit works great, and if you go to a place that sells it, the person can match up the perfect foundation to your skin tone. it works really well, i haven't had any complaints yet. but just don't be cheap about it, and buy their brushes along with their foundation/ concealer (its in one to save money!) i dont know about their other products -- which seem like every regular drug store item, but the foundation/concealer and mineral veil works great!
:) hope this helped!
